About Deanne

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.

I earned my undergraduate degree in Sociology and Philosophy at the University of Arizona. Three children and many years later, I recieved a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont. My post-graduate training has taken place in the public-school setting, where I worked with teens struggling with relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, family and peer issues, eating disorders, substance abuse, self-harm and suicidality.

I also worked at Turning Point Center for Families, a non-profit in Costa Mesa, CA offering individuals a low cost option for individual and group therapy.

My most recent job was with The Well Therapy Group where I helped individuals, couples, and families overcome difficulties in their lives and live happier and more meaningful lives.

I have done extensive research in the field of depth psychology and enjoy exploring the larger questions of life that arise during a midlife crisis, and other major life transitions. My studies allow me to help others develop a deeper understanding of themselves, and their place in the world.

I am a writer.

With a desire to make a difference in the world, I have written for Kris Carr’s Home of the Crazy Sexy Wellness Revolution for cancer survivors and Esteem Yourself E-Magazine which gives women tools to build self-esteem, confidence & self-worth.

You can find my most recent book Not Now, Cancer, I’m Busy on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and on this site under Media and Publications.

I am an activist.

I have made television appearances on The Dr. Phil Show (The Great School Debate), and CBS’s, The Talk, discussing my unique philosophy on education and raising happier humans. I want to see a change in how we raise and teach our young people today, with the hope of ensuring a safer more egalitarian society were all people thrive no matter one’s ethnicity, culture, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or color of skin.

I am a mother and lead singer in a rock band.

I am the mother of three young adults. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, taking long walks on the beach, and playing guitar in my all mom rock band.
